I agree with the above comment -- think that most all drs are only out for proftting themselves or their hospitals.

Also, you have to realy beware of all the incompetent physcians out there! They cover and look out for each other -- it's the oldest "oldboys" network around!

I used to be a Physician Recruiter, and honestly it's not so bad. There may be 120,000 deaths, but of those, how many were allergic reactions to medications the doctor gave that simply was not on the chart (from another doctor or nurse)? There are so many reasons. Of course, there is always sub-par care. As for money, the rising cost of med-mal insurance is causing physicians to moonlight just to pay for it. I recruited for Locum Tenens (temporary physicians), and many did it because they simply could not make ends meet as a physician and need the extra income in certain states. You would think a doctor should be able to buy a house in California. That's not necessarily the case. Most doctors don't make as much money as people think they do, especially for being in school until they are 30 (if they are a surgeon, which is what I recruited).

Yes today the doctors kill more than they cure. Minimal care and especially HMO doctors where you have to fight to get a specialist opinion after the general practitioner puts the nails in your coffin. If you survive the 3-6 month fight to get a third opinion from a specialist your life can be saved. The doctor gets paid now to see 1,000 patients, he does not have time to spend on folks with severe problems, nor do the HMO's want to spend the money to give the care and proper treatment. They are murderers for PROFIT!
